Group Counseling Austin 78731 78759
Group Counseling Sessions

Within my private practice, I offer and facilitate groups on step parenting and integrating blended families, managing anxiety, and managing life stress. I also do group therapy for women only on coping with issues related to peri-menopause and menopause. Another group that I'm forming will be for those interested in writing your life story through journaling.

If you are interested in any of these group therapy sessions, please complete the brief form below.

In group psychotherapy I treat a small group of clients together. The group therapy process can be a wonderful mechanism for support and growth by helping members develop skills needed to make changes in their lives. Most of these groups are psychoeducational in nature, however, the group process may enable members to feel a sense of:

Universality. Recognition of shared experiences and feelings among group members helps remove your sense of isolation, validates your experiences and raises your self esteem.

Altruism. Because the group is a place where members help each other, the experience of being able to give something to another can lift your self esteem and help you develop more adaptive coping styles and interpersonal skills.

Hope. In a mixed group where members are at various stages of development or recovery, a member can be inspired and encouraged by another who has overcome the similar problems.

Support: The group setting provides a safe and supportive environment for members to take risks by extending their repertoire of interpersonal behavior and improving their social skills

Catharsis. When members tell their story to a supportive audience, they can obtain relief from shame and guilt.

Self-understanding. Group members often achieve greater insight into the origins of their problems and some of the motivations that underlie their behaviors.

If you are interested in group therapy for life stress issues, step parenting or family integration, issues related to menopause (women only), or writing your life story through journaling, please complete the form below. Or call my office today.
